A coalition of more than 3,000 automobile dealerships across the United States have sent an open letter to President Joe Biden calling on him to “tap the brakes” on his regime’s aggressive electric vehicle (EV) push.
Car dealers from all 50 states that collectively sell every type of major vehicle brand on the market signed on to the letter, which centers around Biden’s new tailpipe emissions standards that are said to be the most aggressive federal regulations of their kind ever issued.
These proposed regulations by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) require that the majority of new vehicle purchases within the next decade be EVs, even though demand for EVs is very low because the cars themselves are unsuitable for people’s lifestyles and the infrastructure isn’t there to make them a viable option anyway.
The proposed EPA guidelines would affect all car models ranging in year of production from 2027 through 2032. They are purportedly aimed at improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“These vehicles are ideal for many people, and we believe their appeal will grow over time,” the dealers wrote in their letter to Biden. “The reality, however, is that electric vehicle demand today is not keeping up with the large influx of BEVs [battery electric vehicles] arriving at our dealerships prompted by the current regulations. BEVs are stacking up on our lots.”
“Last year, there was a lot of hope and hype about EVs. Early adopters formed an initial line and were ready to buy these vehicles as soon as we had them to sell,” continued the dealers. “But that enthusiasm has stalled. Today, the supply of unsold BEVs is surging, as they are not selling nearly as fast as they are arriving at our dealerships – even with deep price cuts, manufacturer incentives and generous government incentives.” (Related: Electric vehicles are a SCAM – here’s why.)
The EPA’s proposed regulations take none of this into account, the letter continues, calling the agency’s expectations “unrealistic based on current and forecasted consumer demand.”
The fact that EVs are piling up on car lots shows that people simply do not want to buy them, even with socialized incentives covered by taxpayers designed to make EVs more affordable for the average American.
There is also an incredible lack of charging infrastructure across the vast land mass of the United States. Getting from state to state – or even city to city, depending on the distance – is sometimes impossible because there is no way to get there on a single charge and no charging stations in between.
Then there are all those rare earth minerals required to build EVs. These minerals mostly come from overseas, especially from communist China. Dredging up these minerals is both energy-intensive and destructive to the environment — it is not a green endeavor — not to mention the fact that making EVs at this standard also means making America permanently reliant on the world’s largest communist dictatorship for EV materials.
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), China currently produces about 75 percent of all lithium-ion batteries, as well as 70 percent of cathodes and 85 percent of anodes, two other key components of EV batteries.
“Mr. President, it is time to tap the brakes on the unrealistic government electric vehicle mandate,” the letter reads. “Allow time for the battery technology to advance. Allow time to make BEVs more affordable. Allow time to develop domestic sources for the minerals to make batteries.”
“Allow time for the charging infrastructure to be built and prove reliable/ And most of all, allow time for the American consumer to get comfortable with the technology and make the choice to buy an electric vehicle,” concluded the letter.
The EV push is short-sighted and anything but “green.” Learn more at GreenTyranny.news.
